Structured development pathways for professionals.

CPP offers both an Operations Leadership Development Program (OLDP) and an Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP).  These development programs are designed to accelerate the growth of early-career professionals in their chosen disciplines who show both interest and aptitude for future leadership roles. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and structured development opportunities, participants build the technical skills, organizational perspective, and communication skills needed to drive excellence in their work and meaningful impact across the organization.

Openings for the CPP development programs can be found on our Current Openings Page.

OLDP

Operations Leadership Development Program

OLDP is a structured two-year rotational program designed to prepare high-potential professionals for leadership roles within CPP’s operations organizations. Participants rotate through and complete three defined assignments that are designed to build experience across key operational disciplines, including process control, production planning, and production supervision. The program emphasizes process understanding, practical application, accountability, and progressive responsibility within active manufacturing environments.

OLDP

Exposure to leadership, mentorship and cross-site collaboration.

Program participants regularly present progress, insights, and results to site and division leadership, gaining direct exposure to senior operational leadership. Participants are paired with a dedicated mentor in each rotation for guidance, support, and feedback. In addition to working within their home site, participants engage in structured benchmarking and collaboration across CPP locations, enabling the sharing of best practices, cross-site learning, and exposure to the broader CPP organization.

ELDP

Engineering Leadership Development Program

ELDP is a structured two-year rotational program designed to develop the technical and leadership capabilities of high-potential engineers in CPP’s advanced casting operations. Participants complete up to four defined assignments across critical aspects of castings manufacturing, including components process engineering, part engineering, dimensional engineering, new product introduction, automation, and operations/supervision. The program focuses on preparing candidates for both subject matter expert individual contributor roles and leadership/management roles at CPP through applied engineering, manufacturing systems understanding, and practical problem-solving in active production environments.

ELDP

Immersive experience across engineering, production and manufacturing systems

In each rotation, participants work within cross-functional engineering, quality, and operations teams at their home site and engage in structured cross-site project collaboration. This approach builds a practical understanding of CPP’s manufacturing systems, casting processes, and production environments, while developing foundational engineering competencies, systems-level thinking, and the ability to operate effectively across the organization. Each of these are skills that support long-term growth and career progression within CPP’s advanced manufacturing organizations.

Post-program opportunities

Completion of CPP’s development programs prepares participants to progress into more advanced technical and/or leadership roles across the organization. The rotational structure, cross-site exposure, and applied development model help to build the experience, technical and leadership skills, and organizational understanding needed to accelerate personal growth and drive meaningful impact.
